life's too short to be so desperate to be loved

Who: Riku and Lea
When: After returning from the mission in Nepal; late at night/very early morning.
Where: Casa de Bro
What: Staying up late causes a sleepy Riku.
Warnings: Cavities+

Riku hadn't yawned because he was sleepy in a long time.

He knew Lea had said not to wait up, but Riku would protest for one reason, and one reason only.

... it was hard to sleep without Lea.

He knew that it was easy to sleep with the redhead beside him, but he never knew it was hard without. This was--Riku would define it as shattering, because it felt like little pieces of himself embedded themselves in different places all over his body. His foot would not stop twitching against the floor, tapping in time to the clock on the wall. His lips felt chapped. When he brought a hand up against his lips, he tried not to think that it was because he hadn't used them in more than a few hours.

(More than a few hours. What was taking him so long?)

Part of him berated himself. What was he thinking, just leaving Lea there? He was Sora's friend, but he was Lea's teacher, he should've stayed!

Part of him berated Lea. How was he supposed to handle Xehanort if he couldn't handle this little mission on his own?

Three guesses which line of thinking triumphed over the other, first two don't count.

He should've stayed. It was late into the night now, with nothing but the light snores of the pups' mother (she had taken a liking to Riku, settling beside him every now and then) and the sound of wind. Even his eyes were starting to droop. Finally, with a sigh, he lay down on the couch, settling to watch the door. He'd just... get comfortable.

... his eyes were burning. Just closing them for a few minutes...
