Ah, there truly was no love like the love between a boy and his... bat thing. Axel cupped his chin in one palm and rested his elbow on the back of the chair to wait for the cuddling scene to end, and then made a face when Riku apologized a third time.
He sighed long-sufferingly and shook his head.
"Yes, we already established that you're sorry," he said, scrubbing at one eye and then rolling his shoulders back, "but you don't have to thank me." This was said with what was probably a surprising degree of candor. "You wouldn't wake up this morning, though, so..." He shrugged. "I mean, I really never would have heard the end of it if I let you die again."
There was a beat of silence as he deadpanned the remark, then he cracked a crooked grin.
"Besides..." he said then, his voice a bit halting. "I kinda owed you, right? Er... well, and even if you don't remember her for some reason, you were a pretty good friend to Xion." He averted his gaze and awkwardly pulled at the back of his neck. "So, I mean... any friend of Xion's is a friend of mine, I guess."
